Moving Day (Just in the technological world)

So I know I haven't really updated my blog in a real long time but I want to get back into that old routine. But before I got back into writing updates I wanted to move my blog over to WordPress (another website that hosts my blog, just better than the one I had). First Post of 2010!!!

Yay!! The first post of JC's Blog of 2010! Can you believe it's already a new year? Or perhaps you're wondering why it's taken till March 13 to post the first post of the year. We obviously have started the second semester of TEPSE and are trucking through it. It is hard to believe that in 6 weeks or so we will have graduated another batch of students. I've been moving my way along with my classes, Church History and Cults & World Religions, and I think for the most part they have gone well. As this is my first time teaching Church History I will definitely be doing some revisions to the curriculum next time I teach that class. 

Every spring we take our students on a ministry trip for a week or so. For the past few years we had been going down to Augusta, GA for the Master's Golf Tournament. This year because of several circumstances we decided to go to New York City instead. We plan on leaving this Monday and being in town for about a week. Lord willing we plan on doing open air evangelism non stop while we're there to maximize our visit. The forecast is predicting a bit a rain so please pray that is held off until the night time or until we get back. If you're in the NY area we'd love for you to come with us if you are able, just let me know.

You Would Think... (part 2)

You would think that if you failed to post for several weeks/months you would try really hard to post some more. Once again I don't fit that mold. I have to say though that since the end of August things have been going non stop, or at least that's how it feels.

So, since my last post we at TEP went to California to train the guys with the Discipleship Intern Program (DITP) in San Jose. Dad did a one week class of Eschatology (end times) and the next week we did a seminar on open air evangelism. Plus all the traveling involved. There's a whole lot more to our trip but it's hard to put it all into one paragraph. To summarize we were gone about a month and got back early/mid October.

Since getting back I've been teaching a lot! On Mondays I teach Church History and Thursday nights I'm teaching Hermeneutics (studying and interpreting the Bible). All other time is spent grading homework, preparing for the next class or something else that has to be done. I love teaching, but I think I've underestimated the amount of time it takes to prepare properly.

That's pretty much what's been going on lately. I'm also leading the College & Career study on Tuesdays and I preached yesterday at Calvary, my home church. I will post pictures up soon, especially from the California trip because there were some amazing sights. Hope you all are doing well.

You would think...

You would think that if you have three weeks "off" that you would be posting to your blog all the time. But apparently I don't fit that train of thought. I guess part of that is being busy and just plain laziness.

So here's a little update of some of the things that have gone on the past few weeks. We got home the first of August and we got to just spend some time off at home; which is a nice break from a long summer. While on break I preached at my home chapel and in Ohio which meant I had some studying to do. The Lord was really great in helping me prepare. The weekend after I spoke in Ohio my dad spoke at the same chapel and we got to spend time with some of my family. Praise the Lord that during this quick trip my Grandpa accepted Christ as his Savior! After all of that, Christina who worked with us at TEP got married at our house. It was really great and was a fun time but the house was a little hectic. That same weekend we had a baptism and picnic with the chapel at our house as well and started TEPSE that Monday.

With TEPSE I'm teaching three courses this year: Hermeneutics, Church History, and Cults & World Religions. I've had two sessions of Hermeneutics, Church History will start in October and CWR starts next semester. All of my courses are one a week.
Right now we are on the road once again. We left Sunday afternoon after my dad and I spoke, for California. We plan to be gone about a month and would greatly appreciate your prayers. Once we get to San Jose my dad will teach course on Eschatology (end times) to the DITP with Jim McCarthy. The week after that we will do a seminar on open air evangelism with them.

If this seems lacking a train of thought, I apologize for the dumping information. As always I would greatly appreciate your prayers especially with us being on the road. Hope all is well with everyone!

Back to the Bush!

Well I guess I haven't updated everyone on what's been going on lately. It's been a while so I'm not really sure where to begin. I guess I'll start with the schedule, since the beginning of May I've been home three weeks, not consecutive. So, needless to say we've been all over the place and have been a little busy, thus the lack of posts. We've been in Atlanta, Chicago, back to Atlanta, Kansas City, and New York. This most recent trip to New York started off with my dad and I working at Pine Bush Bible Camp. My dad spoke and I counseled during their suburban week.

It was a great time to be back at my old stomping grounds of The Bush. I think I spent the first 14 summers of my life at Pine Bush, but because of scheduling problems I haven't been back in 5 years. I had a good group of kids in the cabin and a great CIT to work with. One of my boys I know for sure accepted the Lord that week. Praise the Lord! Please pray for growth in his Christian walk. I hope to go back next year, but that's a long way a way and I haven't layed out my schedule for next year yet. So, we'll leave it up to the Lord for now. Right now we're doing the seminar in New York but I'll post about that later, seeing how it's getting close to my bedtime.

The Trip So Far

Well from my last post we were just leaving for our three week trip to Atlanta and Chicago. Now we are almost done with the first leg of our busy summer. Tomorrow or Saturday we will be coming home for a few days. I've tried to take some pictures but for some reason the the rechargeable batteries I bought don't like to keep a charge for very long in my camera. It seems like I use my camera then turn it on later and the batteries are dead AGAIN! Anyways had to get that out of me. :] But I have taken some pictures but not as many as I would like but here are a few of them.Putting it all in

Today we are planning on going out in the open air to do evangelism with our seminar students in Chicago. Please pray for us that we would have good meetings and that the Lord would keep us safe. Also please pray for good weather tomorrow as it is supposed to rain.

Today It Begins

Today our summer traveling officially begins. We head down to Georgia for two seminars and a DLP, along with another seminar in Chicago. Please pray for us as we travel about.

College & Career Group

For the past 6 months or so we of college and career age have been meeting at a local Tim Hortons, which is a coffee/donut chain, every Tuesday night. We fellowship with one another for a while and talk about things in our lives and sometime just about nothing. Then we talk about my favorite book, the Bible! I call it a free-for-all where anybody can share something that they've been thinking about from the Word. I usually try to get it off to a good start and we go from there. There are about six of us that come every week with several others that come when they can. This group has been such a blessing and encouragement to me. Please pray that we would encourage each other in our walks with Christ and also to be good witnesses to the employees that we see every week.

For the love of the game

There are few things of the world that I really care about. I try to just concentrate on the things of the Lord and His Word. BUT the one thing I do really, really, really like is baseball. My favorite team is the Cleveland Indians. This past Saturday they played the Yankees at the BRAND NEW Yankee Stadium which cost around $1.2 Billion to build. I got a call from a friend of mine saying that the Indians were on TV and I needed to turn it on. When I did I was very pleased. The score at the bottom half of the 2nd inning was 14 to 2 Indians in the lead. The game ended with the Tribe crushing the overspending Yankees 22 to 4. Ah, it warms my heart to see the team with the biggest payroll and most expensive stadium just get slammed. So of all the things to get excited about this one really got me excited! :)



P.S. If any of my readers are Yankees fans...I'll pray for you. :)

Almost Home

As I said in the past post we've been in Georgia for over a week now. Friday we went to a local YMCA and were able to do a kid's meeting there for a day camp which was around 60 kids.

Tom did the story of Barabbas and how Jesus took his place on the cross. He was the first one who could have said that Jesus died for him. Tom did a great job of telling the story and explaining the gospel. We had a lot of good conversations with some of the kids after. I talked to one boy who I think got saved that afternoon. Others on the team had similar conversations. Praise God foer this opportunity.

Lord willing we plan to leave for home tomorrow morning, early. Please pray for our travels that we will stay safe and awake. :] Also please be in prayer for all those who heard the Gospel this past week that the seeds planted would be watered.

In Georgia

Well we have officially started the traveling season here at TEP. We are now in Augusta, GA passing out "May I Ask You a Question" booklets at the Masters Golf Tournament. We've been down here since last Thrusday and have been doing other ministry things as well. Tomorrow we plan to do some open air evangelism at the University of Georgia and Friday doing a kid's meeting at a day camp at a YMCA. Please pray for us as we need the Lord's help to do these things. Also pray for good weather. The first two days at the Masters it was cold with a stiff wind, plus we didn't think it would be that cold so we didn't dress that warm. I taken somw pictures and Lord willing I'll get them posted for everyone to see. :)

Testdrive

Well if you go back a few posts ago you'll see that I talked about a class we at TEP were taking at a Public Access Station. Tonight was the last night. It was pretty fun as we had a game show to test us on our knowledge of video production. My team just barely missed the finals. I have to say that I learned more than I thought I would and it definitely was fun. Lord willing we'll be putting these skills we've learned to good use.

So, I just downloaded this new program to my phone allowing me to post to my blog from anywhere (a scarry thought). This is a test of this new program to see if it works.

It's Warm!

Well, the title pretty much says it all. The thermometer at home had the temperature at almost 70 but online it says that it's just above 60. But hey I'll take whatever I can get. After the 5 months at around 30 or below (mostly below) you feel like putting on shorts with this kind of weather. Less than a week ago it was in the 20s but now its much warmer, you've got to love Michigan weather.

Video Work

Well things are slowing down a little bit here, although it still seems a little hectic. But hey I'm not complaining. I don't know if you've heard about the Public Access Television class that a bunch of us at TEP are taking. Basically we pay $75 each (cheap when it comes to video work) and for 10 weeks they teach everything about video production. After the class is over we can check out their really nice equipment for FREE! Needless to say this is great for The Ezekiel Project. Anyways we've moved into the studio part of the class and I think it's really a blast. I've done some video work before but this is totally new to me and I enjoy it a lot.
